Novice "A" win Provincial Bronze

Provincial Bronze

When challenged to bring home a Provincial medal to mark the end of a great season, the girls of Clarington Novice A Flames said, "WE WILL!" The road was not easy, but the girls never gave up on their quest and, when the dust settled, they proudly wore the Novice A Provincial Bronze around their necks having lost only one game; the pivotal Semi -final.

To get to their goal, our Novice Flames faced some of their biggest rivals; Burlington, Oshawa, Etobicoke, Whitby, Aurora and finally Oakville. All teams were evenly matched, there were no easy games, and every match was a true battle.

Ties with both Burlington and Oshawa in the preliminary round placed the Flames in second for their pool. Etobicoke was the next challenge in the cross-over round. Our Flames were not willing to end their season on the Saturday and battled hard to a 4 - 0 win.

The Quarter-final round saw our Flames matched up against the Lower Lakes Champions, Whitby Wolves. Down early, 4 - 1, the Flames proved how much they believed in themselves by powering back to create one of the most exciting matches witnessed at this tournament. With only 6.9 seconds on the clock, the Flames potted the winning goal to devastate the Wolves.

With their sites clearly set on the medal round, the Flames found themselves in tough against a well matched foe in Aurora. Unable to pull off the same type of come back, our Flames fell to the Panthers 4 - 1 experiencing their only loss of the tournament.

Upset by the loss and the inability to battle for Gold, the Flames rallied around the knowledge that they were the only hope for Clarington to bring home a medal. This clearly inspired the girls as they beat a strong Oakville squad for the first time this season by a final score of 4 - 2.

The coaches and parents of these amazing young ladies are so very proud of the accomplishment these girls achieved. We thank our sponsors; Dutch Touch Landscaping and K-LINE INSULATORS LIMITED for their support. Thanks also to all the Clarington Flames community for your support.
